Instructions

Super Mario Flash sticks closely to the formula the original Mario games established: run and jump across platforms, stomp on enemies from above, and collect coins, mushrooms, and fire flowers to grow stronger as you go.

As a fan-made tribute rather than an official release, the level design and pacing take clear inspiration from classic Mario titles while offering its own set of stages to play through.

Controls

Arrow keys — move and duck
Z or Space — jump
X — run — hold while moving, and it also throws fireballs with the fire flower power-up

Tips to Master Super Mario Flash

Hold the run button through longer jumps — as in the games it's inspired by, extra speed extends how far a jump carries you.

Stomp enemies rather than running into them

Jumping onto an enemy from above defeats it safely, while touching one from the side usually costs you your current power-up.

Keep a power-up in reserve when possible

Staying at a bigger, powered-up size gives you a buffer against one mistake, so it's worth being a little cautious right after picking up a mushroom or flower rather than rushing into risks immediately.
