Genre: Platformer
Release: 2001 (GBA remake)
Platforms: Browser (GBA via EmulatorJS)

Instructions

Super Mario Bros. 2 breaks from the series’ usual stomp-on-enemies formula: you pick up vegetables, enemies, and objects from the ground and throw them at foes instead, with four playable characters (Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach) each offering different jump height, speed, and dig power.

This GBA version is the Super Mario Advance remake, adding enhanced graphics and voice clips on top of the original NES design, but the level layouts and character trade-offs are unchanged.

Controls

D-pad — move
A — jump
B — pick up / throw

Tips to Master Super Mario Bros. 2 (Super Mario Advance)

Pick your character based on the level ahead rather than sticking with one favorite — Toad’s speed, Peach’s float, and Luigi’s jump height each make specific sections dramatically easier.
