Instructions

2D Rocket League compresses the car-soccer idea from Psyonix's original into a single top-down screen. You drive a small rocket car around a walled arena, and every collision with the ball sends it bouncing off the boards, so positioning and angle matter more than raw speed.

Matches are short and score-focused: get the ball rolling toward the opponent's goal, use boost to arrive first, and use the wall bounces on your side of the field to redirect awkward passes back into danger.

Controls

W / A / S / D or Arrow keys — drive the car
Shift — hold to boost
Space — jump, useful for popping the ball over defenders

Tips to Master 2D Rocket League

Chasing the ball at full speed is rarely the fastest way to it — the ball's rebound angle off the walls is very readable, so cutting across to the rebound point usually beats a straight-line sprint.

Boost is a resource, not a button to hold

Because boost recharges slowly, save it for the moment you need to beat an opponent to a fifty-fifty ball or to clear it from your own goal, rather than driving with it held down constantly.

Defense wins tight matches

Since matches are short, conceding one soft goal is hard to come back from. Staying goal-side of the ball when the opponent has possession denies the easy tap-in and forces them to work for an angle.
