Genre: Platformer
Release: 2001 (GBA)
Platforms: Browser (GBA via EmulatorJS)

Instructions

Wario Land 4 sends Wario through four pyramid-themed level sets, each ending in a mad dash back to the entrance once you grab the level’s treasure and the exit is sealed behind a countdown.

Rather than dying to most hazards, Wario transforms — catching fire, getting flattened, or turning into a zombie all change his abilities temporarily, and a lot of the platforming is built around using those reactions on purpose.

Controls

D-pad — move
A — jump
B — attack / dash
Select — swap items

Tips to Master Wario Land 4

Learn each hazard’s specific transformation instead of just avoiding it — several puzzles are only solvable by deliberately getting set on fire, flattened, or otherwise “hurt” in exactly the right spot.
