Instructions

Hold the accelerate key to move forward and tip the car's weight forward, and hold the brake key to slow down and tip the weight backward — there is no steering input, so every obstacle is solved through throttle and brake timing alone, not lateral movement.

The first ten to fifteen levels are built to teach this balance-and-timing rhythm on relatively forgiving terrain; difficulty ramps up sharply afterward, so a technique that works on an early icy slope may fail on a later level that changes the vehicle entirely.

Surfaces change how the car behaves from level to level: wooden bridges bounce under the car's weight, ramps launch it higher than a flat surface would, and some levels reverse which key accelerates versus brakes, so read each new level's terrain before committing to a throttle rhythm that worked on the last one.

Tips to Master Drive Mad

With only accelerate and brake as inputs, tipping the car too far forward or backward is what causes most crashes, not misjudging distance. Tapping the throttle in short bursts rather than holding it down keeps the car's body closer to level on uneven terrain like ramps or bridges.

Different vehicles behave completely differently

The vehicle changes across levels — a stretch limo handles nothing like a rocket-propelled car — so the same tap rhythm that cleared one level can immediately fail on the next. Treat each new vehicle's first obstacle as a calibration test for how sensitive its balance is before committing to full-speed inputs.

Surface changes momentum without warning

Wooden bridges bounce, ramps add unexpected height, and ice removes traction almost entirely, all without any on-screen indicator before you reach them. Slowing down slightly on approach to any new surface type gives more room to correct if the car reacts differently than the previous stretch of road.
